Class Highlights

Some of the epiphany moments that i had were learning about books. I didn't know that editors and author had to go through so much trouble to get their book published.I didn't know that there were so many rules and regulation that one has to precede by in order for their book to be printeded. I learned that there are so many types of journalism. Learning about the newspaper industry made me consider becoming a journalist, writing about events and stoeies occuring in the community i live in. I have a great passion for music, so it is intersting for me to learn that some parts of the mussic industry is curpt. I didn't some artist or their publishes pay dj's and radio host to play their music mostly in rap and hiphop.

Media Ethics/ Media Law

One event that I read in a magazine in 2011 is about Kim Kardashian and her sister boyfriend Scott secret love. The article was untrue; however does it give the reporter to write it under freedom of speech? It cross the line on weather people should be allowed to report stories that one knows are dishonest or is appropriate under the first amendment. As well does it cross the line of privacy which should be respect towards everyone? People should be allowed to have their privacy no matter what the situation, unless one don't care that stories are out there about them.

Propaganda

In this ad the two types of propaganda that is used are glittering generalities and testimonial. It is using glittering generalities because of the slogan float like a butterfly and sting like a bee. It is saying that if you drink this drink you will will be strong like Serena Williams. It is a famous quote from Muhammad Ali. The ad also contains testimonial because the ad include a famous person that people trust and a person who is known for being strong or have energy and have experience with drinking G2.    

Internet

I know my guy friend who is consume with gaming on the internet. My friend Frank is addicted to playing video games online. He spends most of his time on his laptop playing world of war craft and ignores his daily duties. He doesn't put all of his effort into his relationship with his girlfriend because of his love for video games. It takes a huge part of his social life because he doesn't spend time with is friend, as hedid before. Now he is going out with friends more, but he still spend some time playing games online. It takes little steps i guess, his girlfriend told me that he is doing better in the relationship..

Movies or Recordings

One of my favorite movie is Romeo Must Die. I saw the movie on DVD, when i was in my last year of middle school. I first enjoyed it because my favorite singer Aaliyah was in the movie, however I realized there were reason why the movie was amazing such as the romantic characters are an African American female and a Asian Male which is unusual in the movies. The movie can also appeal to all ages and gender.My all time favorite movie is The Notebook because it was heartwarming and it made me cry. I like to watch romance and comedy movies that can make one tear up and laugh at the same time. I also think Rachel McAdams is a good actress, she can do something so horrible, but make it classy at the same time.

Magazine Proposal

The name of the magazine I want to create is Mi Amour Magazine. I feel that is will be a great magazine that teenage girls and women will enjoy. This would be different form other magazine because in this magazine there will be stories on every type of relationship dealing with family, friends and one's other half. It help people cope with some problems that they may have in a particular part if a relationship. This will include breakups and makeups, fights with family or friends, issues one dating and many more not just pictures of fashion. Some competition that this magazine will have to face is seventeen and life. The magazine will be guided towards all women teenagers to adult as well as to some men who may need a little advise on dealing with women. This is for every race, no matter where one comes from people are interested in relationship whether is with a love one or friends. This is for people what wants to know about being in a relationship or finding a answer about a type of relationship. Some advertisers that would be interested are dating networks, match.com, gap, radio stations, psychologist, and band - aid healing one's pain. Five articles would be, Finding one's love, what to do if one find themselves in a violent relationship, being single and family pressure to find love, lies that friends tell one another, how to help a friend that is dealing with hard times. those are some times of articles that would be in the magazine.

Some of my favorite books that I like are the coldest winter ever, a piece of cake and Sula. They influence me with the lessons and stories in the books. In “The Coldest Winter", the author Sister Souljah informs the reader; about the journey of a girl name winter. The book made me have a different perspective on my life. I have a different lifestyle from Winter, so I thought of what my life would turn out like if I didn't have a strong family structure. In the book, "A Piece Of Cake", the author cupcake brown talks about her own life and how she overcame her struggles. It made me sad because I can feel the pain of the author as I was reading the book. In the book Sula it made me think a lot throughout the book because I had to find out some of the language in the story.

Media Impact

One thing that i think of when i hear media impact is body image. Many women and young women are influence, or compare themselves to who they see around them. Many people blame the media for putting out the idea image of what is normal and how one is suppose to look like. However, everyone comes from different background and shapes. What the media portray as the ideal women is one who is small and skinny. That ideal image creates a negative impact for women and girls.
The ideal image that is created by the media leads women to eating disorder. Eating disorder has a negative effect one women health and body. The models that are on magazine weigh twenty-five less than most normal women according the the article the media," The Media", by Karyn. This subject hits a close place to me because my friend had a problem with eating disorder and it took her a long time to get over that situation. I seen her at her worse and it was sad to me. I still supported her and was there whenever she needed me, so she didn't feel life she going though that struggle alone. This is why i think of eating disorder when i hear media impact because my friend wanted to change her shape to what she saw in the media. The is also other complaints dealing with the issues of media and eating disorder.

Media Autobiography

My association with books is that I have to read books for class. One of my favorite book that I had read for class is “A Piece Of Cake”, by Cupcake Brown. The book is about the struggles that Brown went through in her life and how she overcame it. I feel that the book was inspirational to me and it capture my attention.
When I was in high school I use to read the San Francisco Chronicle to see what was going on in society. I like to read the comic and sports sections. I haven’t read a news paper for awhile because I been busy and haven’t have time to do so.
I like to read a magazine when I am getting my nails for an event, or done and at the dentist office. One of my favorite magazines to read is seventeen because I like the style and information in it.
I always go to the movies with my friend. One good movie that I watch at the movie theater is Toy Story 3.
I don’t normally do like to record, but one good recording I watch online are funny video people put on YouTube.
Every time I ride in a car I and my friend like to listen to music and sing along to the radio. My friend and I like to turn to wild 949 which play hip hop and r&b.
When I was younger I would always turn the television to cartoons every Saturday morning. Now looking back at those cartoon show it brings back old memories.

In college it is important to have access to the internet. I use the internet for write my essays and for research.
