Media Ethics/ Media Law

One event that I read in a magazine in 2011 is about Kim Kardashian and her sister boyfriend Scott secret love. The article was untrue; however does it give the reporter to write it under freedom of speech? It cross the line on weather people should be allowed to report stories that one knows are dishonest or is appropriate under the first amendment. As well does it cross the line of privacy which should be respect towards everyone? People should be allowed to have their privacy no matter what the situation, unless one don't care that stories are out there about them.

  1. Under the theory "any publicity is good publicity" the stars rarely sue, but reporters knowingly publishing lies are not protected by the First Amendment.
